Management

The IHRD (INSTITUTE OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT) came into existence on 28 January 1987. The institute's memorandum of Association and its Rules and regulations have been judiciously framed with built in growth provision. The management of the institute is vested with a governing body composed of exofficio members only with the Hon'ble Minister of Education, Keralal State, as its Chairman and the Chief Secretary to the Government of Kerala as the Vice-Chairman. There are two nominees of Government of India among the members of the Governing Body.

The functional management of the institute is controlled by an Executive Committee, headed by the Hon'ble Minister of Education, Kerala State, with the commissioner and secretary to Government of Kerala, Higher Education Department, as Vice-Chairman. The institute carries out its tasks through a network comprising and central set-up at Thiruvananthapuram and Regional Centres, Equipment Maintenance Centres, Medical Diagnostic Facilities and a wide variety of College, Polytechnics and Technical Schools. The effectiveness of the institute is considerably enhanced because its educational/Training tasks are strengthened by the work experience gained from its equipment maintenance centres and community services facilities. The activities of its Centre of Learning Resources, which has developed many special texts, teacher packages, experimental workstations and video packages has also added to the institute's efficiency. Another advantage is the mobility of its staff with in the organisation.
